A degree in Applied Art led
me to a very enjoyable 10 years as a freelance graphic artist doing
illustration and cartooning. I have been painting watercolor for about
8 years now and have more recently been experimenting with acrylics
and mixed media. Watermedia is amazingly versatile and provides limitless
techniques to explore. My style evolves and changes as I discover that
each medium has a mind of its own. Realism and abstraction both appeal
to me and I strive to combine both in my images. This is an ongoing
challenge as I explore a variety of approaches to creating the images.
Living in the Bay Area has provided me the opportunity to paint with
nationally recognized instructors like John Salminen, Pat Dews, Skip
Lawrance, Don Andrews, Donna Zagotta and Jane Hofstetter.
I am affiliated with several
Bay Area art groups with whom I exhibit. I am Vice president, newletter
editor and webmaster for the Fine Arts League of Cupertino (www.falc.org).
I am also an exhibiting member of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor
Society (www.scvws.org) and the Los Gatos Art Association (www.lgaa.org).
